Research & Teaching

Research at the Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics ranges from physics with protons and neutrons in the Nuclear Physics Group in collaboration with the Forschungszentrum Rossendorf over Radiation Physics to Particle Physics with BABAR in Stanford and ATLAS at CERN in Geneva, where the fundamental symmetries of our universe are studied using large particle accelerators. The basic theory for the simulation of the particle collisions is contributed by the HEP Research Group of the Institute for Theoretical Physics.

The Department of Physics further comprises the Institutes for Applied Physics, Biophysics, Solid State Physics, Structure Physics, as well as the Chair for Didactics of Physics.

The Members of the Institute offer the lecture series Nuclear and Particle Physics in close contact with the current research projects as one of four possible specialization topics in the physics lecture program.
