"João Pedro Gonçalves completed his PhD with a thesis on deep learning applied to the study of jet quenching."
On 13 January 2026, João Pedro Arruda Gonçalves successfully defended his PhD thesis, “Deep Learning for Jet Quenching”, at the Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, and was awarded the degree with distinction.
The defence took place at IST before a jury composed of Mário Pimenta (Chair), Mateusz Ploskon (Rapporteur), Nuno Castro (Rapporteur), Pedro Abreu, Patrícia Conde-Muíño and Guilherme Milhano (Scientific Supervisor).
