LIP researchers receive Best Poster Award at the 1st International Online Conference on Atoms
"Four members of the Nuclear Reactions, Instrumentation and Astrophysics Group of LIP (NUC-RIA) took part in the conference, giving oral presentations and presenting posters."

Ricardo Ferreira da Silva and Tomás Campante Tavares gave oral presentations, while Daniel Garcia and Luís Leitão presented their work in the poster session. A poster by Luís Leitão and Ricardo Ferreira da Silva received the Best Poster Award.
The four participants are members of NUC-RIA, a LIP research group focused on nuclear reactions, the development of instrumentation, and astrophysics.
The work presented focused on atomic physics calculations for astrophysical environments, particularly for kilonovae modelling.
In its first edition, the 1st International Online Conference on Atoms (IOCAT 2026) was organised by the academic publisher MDPI and the journal Atoms, bringing together researchers at different career stages over two days in areas such as atomic spectra, atomic collisions, astrophysical applications, laboratory plasmas, cold atoms and artificial intelligence.
The conference provided a forum for sharing recent results and discussing both experimental and theoretical approaches, while also highlighting the growing importance of atomic data across a wide range of scientific disciplines.
