Ciência Viva Summer Science Internships at LIP featured on CMTV's Falar Global

This summer, LIP once again joined Ciência Viva's Summer Science Internships Programme (Ocupação Científica de Jovens nas Férias), an initiative that gives middle and high school students the opportunity to experience scientific and technological research first-hand at leading Portuguese research institutions.
As part of the 2026 edition, LIP hosted the internship "Hunting for Elementary Particles in Nature", aimed at students in Years 10 to 12. Over the course of two weeks, eight secondary school students explored the world of Experimental Particle Physics through hands-on activities and direct interaction with LIP researchers.
The internship was once again fully booked, reflecting the growing interest among young people in experiencing scientific research in a real-world environment.
The programme was featured in a report by CMTV's Falar Global, including interviews with participating students, LIP researcher Pedro Abreu, and PhD student Luís Afonso, highlighting the impact of initiatives such as this in bringing young people closer to science.
