Master thesis defense

On 17 November João Ribeiro defended his master thesis in Physics Engineering at the University of Coimbra. The thesis, titled “Hardware tracking for the ATLAS experiment at the HL-LHC” focused on the study of the performance of a charged particle trace reconstruction algorithm based on the Hough transform. This study is part of the developments for the upgrade of the ATLAS experiment to the high-luminosity (HL) LHC phase.
The jury was composed by our colleagues Filipa Borges (president) and Ricardo Gonçalo (supervisor), and bt researcher Francesca Pastore, from the Royal Holloway College, University of London, and CERN.
