Bio

 

Nasceu em 1971, é licenciada em Engenharia Física Tecnológica pelo Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), tendo completado o Doutoramento em Física pelo mesmo instituto em Abril de 2002. É Investigadora Auxiliar do LIP, no âmbito do Laboratório Associado, desde Fevereiro de 2007, trabalhando na área da Física Experimental de Partículas e Astropartículas e Aplicações Espaciais. É Professora Associada nos Departamentos de Física e Engenharia e Ciências Nucleares do IST desde dezembro de 2019, tendo sido professora auxiliar convidada no Departamento de Física do IST desde 2005.

Foi membro de várias colaborações internacionais, começando pela área da Física Experimental de Partículas, com a participação na experiência DELPHI em LEP, no CERN, onde realizou o seu trabalho de doutoramento “Test of QED and Search for New Physics in Multi-Photonic Final States at LEP 2”, sob a orientação do Mário Pimenta, entre 1997 e 2002, a que se seguiu o envolvimento na área Física de Astropartículas, com a participação na experiência AMS, onde fez parte do grupo do LIP como bolseira de pós-doutoramento entre 2002 e 2005, e a participação no Observatório Pierre Auger, tendo integrado o Grupo do LIP de Auger desde o início da participação portuguesa na colaboração, em Março de 2006. Pertence à colaboração Geant4.

É, desde janeiro de 2006, coordenadora do Grupo do LIP “Space Radiation Environment and Effects”, que desenvolve aplicações principalmente no âmbito de contratos com a Agência Espacial Europeia (ESA). Esta atividade teve origem em 2003, no âmbito de uma colaboração com a ESA baseada na experiência existente no LIP na área da Física Experimental de Astropartículas e da utilização da ferramenta de simulação Geant4, aplicadas à descrição do ambiente de radiação no espaço e dos seus efeitos. O trabalho desenvolvido no LIP nesta área tem, sob a sua coordenação, vindo a alargar sua abrangência através de diversos contratos com a ESA e com institutos e indústria nacional e europeia, cobrindo todo o espectro de atividades relacionado com o ambiente de radiação no espaço e seus efeitos: modelização e simulação, design, otimização e teste de detetores, estudo e previsão da degradação de componentes eletrónicos com a radiação e dos efeitos da radiação em missões tripuladas no sistema solar.

Foi eleita representante dos estudantes de Doutoramento junto do Conselho Científico do LIP entre 2000 e 2002, e secretária do Conselho Científico pelo polo de Lisboa em maio de 2013, tenho sido reconduzida em julho de 2015 num novo mandato de 2 anos que terminou em 2017.

É membro da direcção do LIP no mandato que teve início em Dezembro de 2017.
