Master theses defense
"Last week, Fátima Alcaso and Henrique Almeida, both from the LIP Dark Matter Group, successfully defended their MSc theses at the University of Coimbra."
The two new MSc developed their research work within LIP's Dark Matter group. The group is part of the international collaboration LUZ-ZELPIN (LZ), whose detector is installed at Sanford Laboratory (USA) since the beginning of the year and that recently published its first results. Besides the responsibilities in LZ, which range from detector control to data acquisition and analysis, the group is involved in the development of the next generation of detectors.
The title of Fátima Alcaso's thesis is "Optimisation of a Xenon Time Projection Chamber for Studies of Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay in Xe-136". The work was supervised by Alexadre Lindote and Francisco Neves.
Henrique Almeida's thesis is titled "Studies of Double Electron Capture in Xe-124 with the LUX-ZEPLIN Detector". The work was supervised by Alexandre Lindote and Cláudio Silva.
Congratulations to Fátima and Henrique!
