Pedro Mendes Jorge 1976-2023
"It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our colleague Pedro Mendes Jorge. Pedro had been a member of LIP since 2005 and will always be remembered by his colleagues and friends. We send a heartfelt hug to his family and close friends."
Pedro had been a member of LIP since 2005. He was part of the LIP group in the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, where he worked mainly on the physics of the W boson. He also collaborated with the neutrino group on the detailed simulation of calibration sources and with LOMaC on optical fibre tests. In recent years, illness has stopped him from continuing his activities.
Pedro will always be remembered by his colleagues and friends at LIP. For his strong convictions, critical spirit and innovative ideas. Also for his humour (sometimes a little dark) and his care for those who were close to him.
We send a heartfelt hug to his family and close friends.
The wake will be held on Friday 25 August from 17h at Centro Funerário de Santa Joana Princesa in Lisbon. The funeral will take place on Saturday at 13h in the Alto de São João Cemetery, where he will be cremated.
