New Masters in Minho and Coimbra

Today, 4 December 2023, at UMinho, Magda Duarte defended her master's thesis, carried out within LIP's Muography group, and supervised by Sofia Andringa (LIP), Raul Sarmento (LIP/UMinho) and Nuno Castro (LIP/UMinho).
The work, entitled "Muon tomography: application of image reconstruction algorithms within the LouMu project", aimed to apply the technique of muon tomography to produce two- and three-dimensional images of the Physics Department building at the University of Coimbra, where LIP is also located.
The members of the Jury were Lorenzo Cazon (IGFAE and Universidade de Compostela), Luis Santos (UMinho) and Raul Sarmento.

José Sousa defended his Master's thesis in Engineering Physics at the University of Coimbra (UC) on 9 October 2023.
Entitled "Development of a High Energy Astrophysics Tracker for the Space Rider Orbital Maiden Flight", the work was developed within the scope of LIP's i-Astro group, under the supervision of Rui Curado Silva and Jorge Maia, researchers at LIP.
The jury memebrs were João Fernandes (president, UC), Teresa Barata (UC), Armelle Frenea-Schmidt (Swedish Space Corporation) and supervisor Rui Curado Silva.
